Eric Rankin

In session with Eric, you'll notice immediately that he has a deep ability to help you feel seen and validated; to help you know that he is there with you through it all.

Eric takes a non-judgemental approach to his counselling, working to empower you to have the skills and knowledge to feel confident in handling your concerns and problems. Growing up in a family that struggled with mental health concerns, and then navigating his own mental health, Eric has always understood and seen the importance of counselling, and de-stigmatizing mental health.

Eric is acutely aware of the power and privilege he has in the therapy room as a white, cis, heterosexual man. He has a commitment to deconstructing the rhetoric our society holds around masculinity and what it means to be a man. His desire and goal is that anyone who walks in his office knows that they hold the power. 

Eric enjoys helping people explore their emotional experience, broaden their emotional spectrum and learn to navigate their experiences in a healthy and open way.  Further, he has a special interest in working with folks on the autism spectrum, or caregivers for those with diverse needs. Eric approaches care from a behavioural, psychological and social level. 

Eric is a practicum counsellor, meaning he is almost done his Masters degree and is receiving direct supervision from Cecile, another one of our counsellors. Eric and Cecile meet weekly to discuss his cases and determine how he can serve you best. As such, Eric is the right counsellor for you if are open to learning alongside someone who is just as dedicated to the process as you are!
